Paul I. Ko


I am an Assistant Professor of Economics at Swarthmore College, studying international economics (primarily international trade and open-economy macroeconomics) and macroeconomics.

I received my Ph.D. in Economics from the Department of Economics at Pennsylvania State University in 2021. Before graduate school, I attended Carnegie Mellon University where I graduated with B.S. in Mathematics, B.S. in Economics with minor in Japanese in 2014. Prior to working at Swarthmore, I was an Assistant Professor of Economics at Dickinson College

I co-founded the Graduate Students in International Political Economy (GSIPE) workshop alongside Cleo O'Brien Udry and Alexander Kirss
